About Fuengirola

Fuengirola is an active town with many amenities for both holidaymakers and residents alike. There are plenty of shops in the center and a shopping center, cinemas, and a weekly flea market, the largest on the Costa del Sol. Visitors will find a good selection of Spanish and international restaurants, and the nightlife is well worth experiencing.

Fuengirola has miles of sandy beaches, mostly with blue flags (an EU recognition), and a beach promenade with palm trees all along the beaches. Water sports, including diving and sailing, are available. Fuengirola also has a good selection of golf courses.

The town of Fuengirola is located approximately 30 km from Marbella and about 20 km from Torremolinos. Malaga airport is approximately 30 km away. Fuengirola has a population of approximately 65,000, and a quarter are international residents. The town receives a large number of tourists every year.

In Fuengirola, you will find the Moorish castle where several festivals are held. The Roman baths are also attractive. If you are with younger visitors, head to Fuengirola Zoo – one of the best in the world with animals from Africa, Asia, and Madagascar. “Skate Park” also ranks among the best in Europe.

Fuengirola, like all of the Costa del Sol and the Malaga region, enjoys a subtropical Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and warm winters. Cooling breezes from the sea make the summer heat manageable, with temperatures averaging 32 ºC in summer.
