How to set up your Stripe account

Follow these steps to connect Stripe and start receiving payments from guests.

What is Stripe? Stripe is the payment platform Costadels uses to transfer money from guests directly to you. You create a free Stripe account and connect it to Costadels — we automatically send your payment after guest check-in.

Create account — email and password

Stripe will ask you to create a new account or sign in to an existing one.

  • Enter your email address
  • Choose a strong password
  • Click Continue
Tip: Use an email address you check regularly — Stripe will send important notifications there.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

Stripe requires you to enable two-factor verification for account security. You have two options:

  • QR code: Scan the code with an authenticator app (e.g. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy). Enter the 6-digit code shown in the app and click Next.
  • Phone number: Click "Use phone instead" and enter your mobile number. You will receive a verification code by SMS.
Recommended: Use an authenticator app — it is more secure than SMS.

Business location and business type

Select the country where you are based and the type of business you operate:

Business location: Select your country (e.g. Norway, Spain)
Business type: Select Individual / Sole trader if you rent out privately

Click Continue once you have selected.

Verify personal details

Stripe is legally required to confirm your identity. You will be asked to provide:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Home address
  • National ID or social security number (in some countries)
Note: All information is stored securely by Stripe and is never shared with guests or Costadels.

Business information

Fill in the details about your rental activity using the following values:

Business website: costadels.com
Product description: I rent out my apartment/villa on costadels.com
Industry: Property rental

Under Customer support information you can add your phone number. The guest's bank statement will show COSTADELS.COM.

Review and submit

Stripe will show you a summary of all the information you have entered. Review each section carefully:

  • Check that the website is set to costadels.com
  • Verify that your personal details are correct
  • Click Submit when everything looks right
Done! Once your Stripe account is approved it will be automatically connected to Costadels and you can start receiving bookings and payments.
